Titles
Titles are one of the most important parts to a trailer, almost as important as the footage itself because without the titles a trailer would just be a compilation of clips with nothing to separate them or anything make sure the audience in involved with the trailer. As more times than not the titles in a trailer talk directly to the viewer with typical sayings such as 'will you survive?' or something similar to this. This is an effective way to engage the audience through these rhetorical questions, as when you directly involve the reader they will be more likely to pay more attention to the rest of your trailer and will be more likely to want to watch the movie in cinemas which ultimately is what the purpose of a trailer is. Title's also are what makes a trailer a trailer because most movies don't have titles throughout them.
Despite the importance of titles in a trailer you cannot just put titles in a trailer to make it good there are several things you must take into consideration when creating titles such as the font, size, colour, background, transitions, timing and what it actually says. The font is incredibly important however it is something the audience won't necessarily pick up on whilst watching the trailer however whether or not you have a good font that suits the exact style and vibe of your trailer will determine if your trailer is taken seriously or not. For example if you are trying to make a very eerie trailer and you use very cartoony blood dripping font it will look ridiculous and won't be taken seriously at all. More often than not the best titles in movies have their font choice very very simple but with a subtle twist that gives it that edge.
