Our main products
When creating a movie you must develop a brand around the movie and what this means is that there will be similarities and a congruent theme in terms of colours, fonts, sizing etc. throughout all over your media products. By doing this you create an identity for your product; something which will remind people of your product when they see it. One main way to make your product memorable is through 'iconic imagery', this is when you create an image from your product which sums up everything you've made and will stick in your audience's mind and will make them think of your movie.
Iconic Imagery
Halloween
Halloween is a slasher movie made in 1978, as you can see from this poster their iconic image is simply just the killer, Mike Myers. This just shows how revolutionary the killer was in the movie as they believe that he is the most iconic piece of the movie and he best represents the movie as a whole. This is a great example of a poster that just uses the killer as the iconic image, this poster takes it one step further because it isn't even the whole killer it is just the majority of his face; this really emphasises the mask as a key part to the film and also represents how intimidating Mike is because all that is needed to create a horror poster is just half his face. |
Nightmare on elm street
This is another example of a movie which just used a character as its iconic image, in this case they used the killer Freddy Kruger. From the original movie series which started in 1984 Freddy Kruger became such a household name in terms of horror movie killers that by the time they came to create a poster for the 2010 release they only needed to use him in order to advertise the movie. The pose of Freddy really shows what parts of him have become iconic; due to his hat covering his face we can see that it is his outfit that has became iconic. However the most iconic part to the costume is his gloves and they have clearly made him pose like this so that you can see his hands as the gloves are the weapon and also something that makes him very unique and the reason he became so iconic in the horror genre. |
Iconic Fonts
Back to the future
This font has become so well known through the 'back to the future' movie series, it is very iconic and if anyone saw the text, the colour scheme of the text or the use of the arrow they would instantly link it to back to the future. To some extent this has become such a part of the film is could be seen as an image from the movie, this just shows how ingenious the choices are for every little detail of the font. |
