Wheeler Winston Dixon was born on March 12th 1950 and is currently 66 years old. He was born in NewBrunswick in New Jersey in the USA and was an American filmmaker and an expert on the theory behind films.
In his lifetime he has written about numerous aspects of film as shown in the two examples of work, 'A Short History of Film' and 'A History of Horror'.
His theory was that instead of men and women being seen as characters in horror film title sequences, they were seen as sites of activity. This is so the audience do not form any emotions towards the character but focus on the severity of the horror. He also said that it is not the text in the film that matters but the violence in the film and how cruel the deaths in a horror are. Finally he argued that all contemporary horror films must include violence and torture scenes in order for the film to be what a true horror should be.
