The main body of our idea for our trailer is to create something more plot based and story lead and our goal is to drive the interest of the viewers through the charisma and the individuality of our main character/killer. The initial planning idea we have had for our film trailer is in the film genre of a slasher horror. The main storyline of our trailer consists of a revenge theme as a result of a boy named Timothy (Joe) being bullied at school by three other boys (Erin, Dave, Jordan). Tim plans on getting revenge by taking the three other boys as hostages and then proceeds to torture them in the forest and in his shed. We have decided to show why Tim wants revenge by filming scenes of the four boys when they were younger, (younger children at school) and how Tim was picked on by the three boys. We are then going to show different scenes such as Tim dancing by himself and sitting in his shed laughing to himself in order to portray the fact that he is twisted. To further portray the image that Tim is twisted we have decided to use a soundtrack called tiptoe in the tulips in the background of the trailer and near the end of the trailer Tim turns out to be listening to this. This song is quite contrapuntal as although the tone of the song is not very light hearted, the pitch of the song is very high which when used alongside the clips of Tim holding weapons, will create a dark and sadistic theme.
Later on within filming we decided that this idea was not going to be practical and did not create the sort of atmosphere in our trailer that we desired. For this reason we decided to rethink our idea and as a result we came up with a new idea that we believed created a better opportunity for a high quality trailer. This idea was based on an exploration where someone finds out that there is supposedly a strange character lurking in the forest. As a result of this he gets two other people to come and explore with him to try and find this character and they decide to vlog the whole thing. After searching for him they eventually spot something so decide to go further into the woods to explore more. One of the characters then decides that he does not want to go on, therefore he turns away to go home. Later on in the day the other two explorers find this persons coats followed by the man in the forest. This man then proceeds to chase the two and the trailer will end with the person filming the vlog recording a call for help.
Below a collection of shots that were not used in the creation of our trailer are shown along with a few scenes from the original trailer idea, Tim.

Along with the initial planning for our trailer we also had to plan our poster and our magazine cover.
Our initial plan for our poster was to have a picture of Jordan's face against a white background with cuts and blood on his face as we believe that with the plain background the emphasis would mainly focus on his cuts which are injuries that are inflicted by the murderer in our trailer. We thought this would create a good poster as it would entice people to watch the film in order to find out how he got those injuries as well as who did them.
After this we decided that the injuries we could create with the fake blood did not look professional enough to have as a poster for a horror film so we decided to change our idea to a dead hand with the murderer in the background holding his weapon. We did this as, like the previous idea, it shows something that has happened to the character that makes the audience wonder how it happened. However what we decided to do differently this time was to include the murderer and his weapon in the background as it gives a better idea of what the film is going to be like. We also thought it made the poster look a lot more professional as it looks like a proper death scene that could have happened in a real film.
When it came to editing this picture our initial plan was to just darken the image and make the hand look more pale so that it looked like it belonged to someone who was dead. This is shown in our first attempt below:
